Terms and conditions

A tool that computes the real night sky for a date, time and place, and builds it into something you keep — a poster, or a private site for two people. The generators are free and need no account. The keepsake tiers are paid, bought once rather than subscribed to, and each includes a number of years of hosting.

You need one only for a paid keepsake. Give us an address you actually control, since it is how we reach you and how you recover access. Keep your credentials — and the notes passphrase — to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into it. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

Everything you put in. The photos, the words, the dates — you keep every right you already had in them. We store and display them to run the keepsake for you and for nothing else: not to train anything, not to show anyone, not to sell. We do not claim a licence to use your content in our own marketing.

The site itself — the astronomy code, the designs, the generated star maps as software output — stays ours.

Upload anything you do not have the right to, anything unlawful, or anything built to harass a person. Do not use a keepsake to distribute malware, and do not attack, scrape or overload the service. We can suspend an account that does these things, and we will say why.

• Prices are shown on the pricing page and are what you pay. Tiers are a single payment, not a subscription.
• Payment is handled by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record and the seller for the transaction. Their buyer terms apply to the payment itself alongside these terms.
• Hosting is included for the years each tier states. Only hosting past that renews, and we email before it is charged.
• Add-ons — a custom domain, rush delivery — are bought alongside a tier and priced separately.

We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, and there is no uptime guarantee on any tier. We may add, change or retire features. If we retire something you are actively relying on, or we stop running OurSkies altogether, we will give you notice, an export of your keepsake, and a refund of the hosting you paid for and did not get.

The skies are computed from published astronomical data for the date, time and place you give, and they are as accurate as those inputs. A keepsake is a gift, not an instrument: do not rely on it for navigation, and check the date and place before you order, because a sky computed for the wrong evening is a correctly rendered wrong sky.

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your rights as a consumer, which these terms do not take away.

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your keepsake. We can suspend or end an account that breaks the rules above, or that we are legally required to. If we end yours for a reason that is not your fault, you get the unused hosting back.

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and for a change that materially affects what you have already bought, we will email you rather than rely on you noticing.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and disputes go to the courts of Pakistan. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
